TRADISI BARZANJI AQIQAH MASYARAKAT WAJO (TINJAUAN TAFA’UL)

Abstract

When tradition becomes both a local identity and local wisdom, it engenders unique characteristics within the diversity of traditions found in Indonesia. It is paramount to preserve and safeguard all forms of traditional and cultural diversity as an expression of empathy and attention towards varied traditions. The question of whether these traditions align with religious precepts requires time and a methodical process to provide accurate and appropriate understanding. Conversely, when certain aspects are deemed incongruent with religious teachings, it is not prudent to hastily eradicate traditions that have been interwoven into the fabric of society for centuries. The Barzanji Aqiqah ceremony gains greater significance and value when one observes the procession and the distinctive offerings presented during its performance. The symbols employed in these ritual activities are imbued with meaning by the Bugis Wajo community, interpreted as auspicious aspirations embodied in these characteristic presentations. In the Bugis ethnic terminology, this concept is known as 'sennu-sennureng,' which in religious parlance is more commonly referred to as 'tafa'ul' (the practice of seeking good omens)." must be clear, descriptive and must provide a brief description of the community service problem being carried out/researched.
