This study examines the understanding of Tauhid (Islamic monotheism) among santri (Islamic boarding school students) in modern-salaf pe-santren (Islamic boarding schools) in Central Java, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and participant observation, the research explores how modern santri conceptualize, internalize, and apply Tauhid principles in the context of contemporary challenges. The findings reveal three major patterns in Tauhid understanding: contextual interpretation of classical texts, integration of traditional and contemporary knowledge systems, and practical application of Tauhid principles in mod-ern contexts. The study demonstrates that modern santri maintain core Tauhid principles while developing adaptive interpretations that respond to contemporary societal needs. This research contributes to the understand-ing of Islamic educational dynamics in Indonesia and highlights the evolv-ing nature of religious knowledge transmission in traditional-modern edu-cational institutions.
