This research explores the role of religious extracurricular activities in shaping Muslim identity among Generation Z students at Jakarta International Islamic High School. Through an ethnographic approach involving participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions, this study examines how religious extracurricular programs serve as platforms for religious identity formation while navigating the challenges of digital culture and globalization. Data analysis reveals that these activities function as transformative spaces where students develop their Islamic understanding, practice religious rituals, strengthen communal bonds, and negotiate their religious identity within contemporary contexts. The study identifies four key dimensions of identity formation facilitated by these programs: spiritual reinforcement, socio-religious networking, counter-narrative development against religious extremism, and balanced integration of Islamic values with modern perspectives. The findings demonstrate how religious extracurricular activities offer Generation Z students opportunities to explore, articulate, and consolidate their Muslim identity while preparing them to engage meaningfully with diverse perspectives in an increasingly connected world. This research contributes to understanding how educational institutions can support religious identity development among young Muslims navigating the complexities of modern society while maintaining their religious foundations.
